Welcome to CRISISASIA
Large scale infrastructure crisis management has its roots in the design schema for production and ownership. While design for production is a well known concept, design for ownership is an entirely different matter. Enlightened brands have long used (preventive) maintenance contracts, coupled with predictive maintenance, to provide safe and enhanced usability over a prolonged life cycle. A report in The Business Times of 26 January 2012 highlighted "Inspections reveal more cracks on Airbus wing component". Such regular failure analysis monitoring is an integral part of infrastructure crisis management. What are your thoughts on how engineering design, performance monitoring and maintenance schedules affect crisis management.
Our Heartiest Congratulations goes out to Sinanju Tankers Pte Ltd for achieving SS540:2008 BCM Certification.
A huge fire broke out on top of an uncompleted building very near KL Sentral this morning. At about 6:30 am 18 Jan 2012, roads leading to KL Sentral were closed by Anggota Bomba (the fire brigade). Delays are expected once the morning rush hour begins. From a BCM angle, how would you like the responding public agencies this situation? What should they be doing? From a more generic perspetive, how should government agencies do if a transport hub is severely disrupted?, Register your thoughts here ..
It was highlighted in the Business Times that DBS did not turn on "jitter technology" at the Bugis Junction ATMs that were compromised. From a BCM perspective, it might be instructive to ask ourselves if this is something BCM activities diligently carried out could have intervened? The latest update is that we have sufficient quorum in the upcoming Crisis Management Executive Programme (CMEP) to be held on 8-9 Feburary 2012 to invoke the iPad2 draw and that's super cool. This is great news as the odds of getting your hands on the iPad2 (3G + WIFI) is incredibly good. More importantly, you will get to discover critical concepts in Crisis Management and have the opportunity to network with your peers who are also accountable for Crisis Management. Register now before it is too late. Click here to see brochure and click here to register.
